Practice Areas
Ms. Morales specializes in U.S. immigration law, including business immigration and complex deportation, exclusion and other immigration issues. Her practice is focused on all aspects of business immigration and business planning, including employment of foreign nationals in professional, student, and other non-immigrant classifications, transfer of intra-company executives, foreign investment in the U.S., and visas available under NAFTA. Ms. Morales has represented corporate employers and start-up companies in many immigration matters, including immigration planning to meet company and personnel employment objectives, often leading to U.S. permanent residence.
Ms. Morales is also experienced in removal cases, which often involve complex issues of exclusion and denial of entry at the Canadian border and airport inspection points, and vehicle seizures. In these cases, her clients include non-immigrant visitors for business purposes, as well as returning legal permanent residents of the U.S. Ms. Morales has also represented foreign air carriers in proceedings involving denial of entry. She has litigated cases before the Executive Office of Immigration Review, Board of Immigration Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
Ms. Morales also provides significant pro-bono representation of the poor, and has litigated cases in conjunction with Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, involving asylum and battered immigrant women. She also successfully obtained the release of a mandatory detainee, upon writ of habeas corpus. This was a case of first impression in Washington, with constitutional issues, and the third of such cases filed nationally.
